- Roughly how old the house is, and whether it is on city sewer or septic
- Where the cleanout is, if you know
- Any earlier repair or camera report
- If you are buying, your inspection deadline

If sewage is coming up a drain
Stop running water, keep people and pets away and call. That is treated as urgent, and same-day and emergency dispatch are available where possible. Smell gas? Leave the house and call the gas utility and 911 from outside.
